«Light is a constructive material,» claims 1024 Architecture, «to shape space just like any other element». From video mapping to sculptures made of neon bars to laser shows, the studio has long worked with light to redefine the boundaries of perception. Until July 13, 2025, some of their finest works are on display at La Gaîté Lyrique, a cultural centre for digital arts housed in a stunning former Haussmann-era theatre in Paris.

The exhibition PULSE: Au rythme de la lumière et du son encapsulates their philosophy: artworks in constant motion, immersive installations where the boundaries between the senses blur, creating a singular sensory experience.

“Pulse”: A Multisensory Journey
PULSE is more than an exhibition: an ephemeral space borrowing heavily from the codes of club culture and electronic music.

Visitors can sip drinks, dance inside Core—a light installation that generates a six-hour-long soundtrack—or play arcade games and video installations designed by 1024 Architecture.

The exhibition invites guests of all ages to interact with 18 immersive installations, crafting their own sensory journey through the land of light and sound.

Light Installations at the Former Gaîté Lyrique Theater
Pulsing music meets dynamic light in some of 1024 Architecture’s most captivating works. Highlights include:
- Matachronal: a fantastical creature with 24 light legs that move like a centipede, powered by a sophisticated algorithm.
- Helix: a twisting light sculpture resembling DNA chains that sway and morph in real time.
- Puppet: a synthesizer-puppet hybrid offering a playful interactive experience.
- Playground: an interactive game where visitors navigate a pixelated world, merging digital art and architecture.
PULSE covers over twenty years of the studio’s creative research: from the smallest elements—bits and bytes of computational language—to the largest scales. 1024 Architecture reinterprets the world through digital tools, crafting virtual landscapes and dystopian universes.
Adding a playful dimension to the museum experience, PULSE also features DJ sets throughout its run, transforming the exhibition into an engaging blend of art, music, and nightlife.
