Brand identity takes shape through light in the new Pudis offices in Prague

Well-designed office lighting is essential to ensure functional and comfortable environments. In some cases, it can also become a tool for communicating a brand’s visual identity. A clear example of this approach is the renovation of the offices of civil engineering company Pudis, designed by Studio Cosmo.

Founded by Tereza and Jiří Kabelková, the Prague-based studio works across a wide range of scales, from concept development to final execution. Through close collaboration with clients, the team develops tailored methods that respond both to the history of the building and to the specific needs of the client or context.

For Pudis, a Prague-based company specializing in transport infrastructure with over fifty years of history, Studio Cosmo carried out a meticulous renovation of the headquarters interiors, successfully merging the brand’s visual identity with the historic character of the spaces. The concept is rooted in the geometry of the logo, a stylized road intersection, redesigned by Know How Solutions, which is translated into several defining elements of the project.

Restoring the space and enhancing materiality

The headquarters is located in a nine-story building in Prague’s Podbaba district, housing both offices and laboratories. Respecting the architectural character of the building, Studio Cosmo removed all previous modificationspartition walls, suspended ceilings, baseboards, and exposed wiring—to restore the spaces to their original form and materiality.

This intervention highlights the concrete structure, oak parquet flooring, and natural light. These elements are combined with visual cues drawn from Pudis’s brand identity, creating a contemporary environment that reflects the company across both furnishings and finishes.

When the logo becomes light: a custom lighting system

Studio Cosmo applied the logo across multiple elements, from partitions to lighting fixtures, which were custom-designed to echo the graphic sign and symbolically connect the company’s identity with the interior aesthetic.

From the welcoming kitchenette to the large meeting room, each of these light lines is designed at different scales according to spatial needs, becoming suspended sculptural elements that sit between decoration and function. These are paired with ceiling fixtures and spotlights that provide both ambient and task lighting.

To further reinforce the dialogue between visual identity and interior design, Studio Cosmo also redesigned the icons used on switches, differentiating controls: the Pudis logo for the custom fixtures, a simple circle for ceiling lights, and rectangles for spotlights.

Through careful attention to detail and the customization of lighting products, the studio has delivered a renovation that translates the brand’s graphic identity into architectural solutions, clearly communicating the sector in which the company operates.
