Some lighting products are designed to disappear: rimless recessed spotlights that are so minimalist, they vanish into the ceiling after being plastered. Then there’s a whole world of track systems, ready to adapt to any lighting need, with adjustable spotlights offering ultra-precise beams. However, for lighting designers seeking something more, several brands now offer high-performance technical solutions available in a range of colors.
While color used to be exclusive to decorative lamps, today, elegant tones and metallic finishes are also making their way into technical lighting. From spotlights to structural elements—often compact in size—these solutions now integrate seamlessly into interior architecture.
We’ve selected five colorful technical products that embody this trend:
Beam Master 35, Olev
Beam Master LED spotlights by Olev feature a 35 mm diameter and can be tilted and rotated to precisely direct light where needed. The lamp body is machined from solid aluminum, eliminating the need for molding or die-casting to ensure maximum strength. The spot’s ring is enhanced with knurled engravings, and it’s available in a wide range of colors: white, black, and metallic finishes such as gold, rose gold, brass, and titanium.
Helgoland, Artemide
Designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Helgoland by Artemide is a truly innovative solution. It features a patented hexagonal mesh that maximizes luminous flux while providing uniform lighting and eliminating multiple shadow effects. This is paired with a circular lens that controls 100% of emitted light. Offered in several variants—ceiling-mounted, recessed, or with an adjustable arm—it comes with trim and frame options in cobalt blue, copper, silver, white, and black.
Straw, Modular
«I wanted to reinterpret the classic tubular shape—more refined and pure, hiding all superfluous elements», said designer Jeffrey Huyge about Straw. A professional pendant solution from Belgian brand Modular, Straw is especially suited for office spaces thanks to its glare-control properties. By rotating the tube, users can shift between downlight, wall washer, or uplight effects. Individual modules can be joined with a screw-free connector, allowing for geometric compositions in space. The company offers anodized finishes, raw textures, glossy black, or full customization in any RAL or NCS color.
Colors by Occhio
Renowned German lighting brand Occhio unveiled a palette of 18 colors during the last Milan Design Week, allowing customers to personalize a selection of existing catalogue pieces. Shades of violet, red, blue, and green—each available in three nuanced colors—will be open for orders starting in Q1 2026.
Newfo, iGuzzini
This piece pays homage to the first architectural spotlight released by iGuzzini back in 1977. A highly designed model, Newfo transforms optical and technological performance into a refined shape known as squircle—a blend of square and circle. It’s paired with the “invisible” Filorail track and comes in finishes like titanium, brass, black, and matte copper.
