Highlights

Completed in November 2023 in Almetyevsk, Russia, this new private mosque features a lighting design that highlights architectural purity and symbolic detail. Designed by THE ViEW x RAUM in collaboration with Parsec Architects, the scheme focuses on enhancing the textures of the Carrara marble façade, wood reliefs, and traditional elements through subtle light contrasts.

The exterior uses 4000K neutral white luminaires placed along the perimeter, delivering a soft, even glow to the vertical surfaces. Ground lights with asymmetrical beams accentuate the tiled walls, while embedded step lights shape the entrance portal. The wooden door’s texture is gently lit, and four wide-angle fixtures wash the dome, with individual lights highlighting each window.

Dual-temperature lighting—a 4000K exterior wash and 3000K warm accents within the windows and crescents—makes the minaret a visual anchor. Compact fixtures with narrow beams subtly illuminate the architectural symbols.

Inside, hidden linear lights with 30° optics reveal the curvature of the walls and the geometry of window frames, while Dark Light spotlights ensure comfort and orientation.

The mihrab is softly backlit with integrated lighting, creating a serene focal point.

Attention to optics and fixture placement minimizes light pollution, while durable, high-quality components ensure long-term efficiency. The result is a project where light not only serves a function but reinforces spiritual and architectural clarity.
