In a world increasingly shaped by artificial and digital dynamics, the work of Xavi Bové Studio—a Barcelona-based digital art studio founded by Xavi Bové Fernandez—stands out for its ability to create a sensory bridge between human perception and natural phenomena.

At the heart of the studio’s visual research lies the will to explore light not just as a technical or decorative element, but as a poetic language capable of narrating the transformation of our planet. «We create emotional experiences through light, image, and sound. Our work explores the concepts of time, memory, and human perception, emphasizing the interaction between people and the world around them», says Xavi Bové, founder, creative director, and new media artist. Through immersive, site-specific installations, the studio translates natural and climatic data into audiovisual experiences, awakening a renewed ecological consciousness in the viewer. Light becomes a sensorial, narrative, and scientific tool.

Light, perception, and awareness: the immersive approach of Xavi Bové Studio

The studio’s creative focus lies at the intersection of multimedia design, human perception, and environmental awareness, with constant attention to the emotional dimension of experience. «There is a poetic tension between the organic and the digital in our practice. We try to reveal what is often invisible—so that people can feel something profound through the language of light and immersive experience», explains Xavi Bové.

Each work is conceived as a space for active contemplation, inviting the audience to slow down and dissolve time and thought. «Our installations are reflective environments designed to inspire a deeper awareness of ourselves and the world around us», adds Bové.

The studio’s projects have been featured in international exhibitions—from Singapore to New York—and showcased in iconic venues such as the Sagrada Familia and Museu Es Baluard, affirming their vision of digital art as a tool for collective engagement and activation.

Posidònia – An immersive journey into the Mediterranean seafloor

A tribute to Posidonia oceanica—a vital plant for the Mediterranean’s balance—this project unfolds on three levels: «Posidònia combines immersive projection, underwater light art, and virtual reality to redefine how we perceive marine ecosystems. It invites an emotional reconnection with nature—a call to preserve what sustains us».

In this case, light simulates the marine ecosystem and its dynamics, immersing visitors in a reality suspended between empathy, technology, and activism. Part of the project’s proceeds support real environmental conservation efforts.

Lunar Oscillations: light and sound reveal the moon’s invisible breath

This kinetic light and sound installation was born from the desire to translate the gravitational influence of the moon into visual and acoustic form. Lights and shadows move through space, evoking the rhythm of the sea in a contemplative narrative. «We wanted to materialize the moon’s gravitational pull in a way people could feel—through sound, light, shadow, and harmonic movement.

It’s an invitation to stillness, encouraging viewers to connect with the moon’s slow dance and to contemplate the invisible forces that shape our lives». Showed in cities like Madrid, Leipzig, and Brixen, Lunar Oscillations transforms light into a metaphor for time and natural cycles.

Phasing Rain: the perceptual instability of climate change

In this multi-channel installation, LED light and sound are orchestrated in out-of-phase cycles inspired by Steve Reich. The subject is water, which here becomes a signal of environmental instability and a symbol of fragile balance. It’s about rhythm, repetition, and the emotional resonance of natural patterns.

6. Phasing Rain - Riyadh (SA) - Ph. Insun Woo

«The piece is designed to shift our perspective on everyday phenomena—turning rain from background noise into a meditative choreography of light and sound». Created for urban and cultural spaces—from New York to RomePhasing Rain uses light as a disruptive experience, capable of destabilizing and sparking reflection.

The transformative power of light

In every project by Xavi Bové Studio, light takes on a transformative role: not only does it modify space, it shapes perception and stimulates awareness.

Whether it’s the moon moving the tides, rain becoming a visual rhythm, or a submerged prairie silently protecting us, light is always a narrative and emotional tool. «Light, sound, and image help us make the invisible visible—offering a sensory path that reconnects us with nature and invites us to care for it, not just as spectators, but as part of it».
