Revived by Live Nation in March 2024 and redesigned by CallisonRTKL with lighting by Visual Terrain, the Brooklyn Paramount returns as a historic venue reimagined for a contemporary audience. This lighting design becomes the connective tissue between eras, guiding visitors from the restored lobby to the main hall through shifting chromatic atmospheres.
In the entrance sequence, color-changing fixtures and projected visuals animate the walls, while historic luminaires acquire a new expressive vocabulary through digital control. Columns, drapery, and the bar unfold in layered tones that expand the room’s scale and reveal its ornamented past.
The restrooms introduce a counterpoint: a clean, evenly lit modern enclave. The VIP lounge further accentuates the contrast — a hybrid of heritage and spectacle, anchored by a disco-ball chandelier and portraits of past performers illuminated like fragments of living memory.
In the main hall, concealed lighting reframes the architecture, letting texture, color, and shadow generate an immersive, artist-driven environment. The result is a venue where light acts simultaneously as a restorative, an interpreter, and an emotional regulator — honoring what the Paramount was while shaping what it can become.
